Nothing But the Truth, by Avi. Philip’s in 9th grade. All he really cares about is being on the track team. Then he finds out that he can’t be on the team if he isn’t passing every subject. And he’s barely pulling a D in English. Instead of working harder to raise his grade, he tries to get his teacher, Miss Narwin, to like him. He figures that will earn him a passing grade. When his tactics don’t work, he decides to get back at her, and maybe get switched out of her class in the process, to what he thinks is an easier English class. So Philip decides to hum along when the National Anthem is played in his homeroom class, even though he is aware that humming along is against the rules. Miss Narwin is his homeroom teacher. After Philip refuses to stop humming and also refuses to apologize for disrupting the class, he is suspended. Then the story takes on a life of its own. Pretty soon his parents, the superintendent, and the school board become involved, then radio talk show hosts, and finally newspaper reporters from around the country. During the whole fiasco, everybody claims to be telling the truth as he or she sees it. It is up to the reader to decide what the real truth is. In this book we learn that “nothing but the truth” is not as simple as it sounds. Posted by Sarah W.

Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers Do you ever wonder what war is like over seas? Well in this book fallen angels by Dean Myers, war is not fun at all. When Monaco and Peewee join the army they are in for a big surprise. When they find out that they both are in the front line hummer Monaco the gunner and Peewee the driver. When all of their members in their squad die like Sargent Carol, Brew and Dont they are the only ones left in the battleground they are at. They both have to try to get out of the battlegrounds and get back home safely.

If you read this book you can definitely tell that this book is an award winner. It has outstanding details so that you can really see what is happening in your own head. I highly recommend this book to readers that like intense war, action and some really bad injuries that the soldiers get in this book. Posted by Jon T.

Monster, by Walter Dean Myers. The best time to cry is at night, when someone is getting beat up and screaming for help. That way, if you sniffle a little, they won’t here you. For 16-year-old Steve Harmon, life right now is tough. He is on trial for a murder in a drugstore where he lives. First, the drugstore break in was supposed to be a robbery. Steve, his friend King, and a guy from his street, Bobo, were involved. He is being held in prison until he is proven innocent, if he ever is proven innocent. Back at school, Steve is into filming. Steve decides to make a movie about his experiences in jail and in court, while it’s happening.

This book gets better and better as more things happen. You will enjoy reading about Steve’s miserable times in jail and in court. Steve goes through many hardships dealing with the inmates he is with, and how much he hates jail and wants to go back home. He gets to see his mom, but doesn’t get to see any of his friends because they don’t let kids in the visitors room. Also, trial is not going well for Steve, and he is nervous.

This is a great novel written by Walter Dean Myers. He uses a unique writing style in this book, he writes it as a play. This book has mostly all dialogue, and is a quick read. I recommend this to anybody who is interested in mystery and crime. The only weakness in this book is that the characters in this book each had their own personality, but their personalities were not very interesting or entertaining. I think this book has an important message about not breaking the law. This book is a fantastic award-winning novel, and if you read it I am positive you will like it. So if you want to know if Steve will be proven innocent or guilty, read the book, MONSTER. Posted by Sam A.

Fever 1793, By Laurie Halse Anderson Being sick is not a good thing, especially in Philadelphia. You know how sometimes you’ll get a little cough or even strep throat; here in Philadelphia you’ll die! There’s a disease called yellow fever, and it’s wiping out the city! “I am a 12-year-old girl, my name is Matilda. I work at a coffeehouse. One day my mom came home with a handful of groceries and said our maid is dead.”

Then one after another more bodies are piling up. Soon the coffeehouse won’t be safe, as Matilda has to face a lot of hardships and watch out for her mom. At first Matilda thought it was just a summer grippe, until her mom got sick! She was so sick; she had yellow eyes and was throwing up blood. Matilda and her grandfather had to leave Philadelphia. They couldn’t get out because they thought Matilda’s grandfather had the fever. Abandoned in the middle of nowhere in a hospital that smelt of blood, Matilda has to find a new home.

The relationship between the characters was incredible! They helped each other, they looked out for each other, and they respected each other. I would feel terrified if I was in Philadelphia in 1793.

Laurie Halse Anderson wrote this novel of the fever. It is very descriptive and fast pace I liked this book a lot! It had great description and it shows us how spoiled we are to have technology and our new vaccines to cure yellow fever. Posted by Josh T.

The Giver By Lowis Lowery Do you ever feel like there are too many rules? What if there were rules that you didn’t know were rules? In Jonas’s town, there are a lot of rules that aren’t really thought of as rules. For example, every child gets a bike at nine years old, and they cannot get one before that. Also, no one is allowed to own a stuffed animal if they are older then eight years old. Everyone also has to fallow many rules of behavior. If you break any of these rules more than three times, then you will get recycled. In Jonas’s world, to be recycled means that you will be killed. As I read this book I realized all of the hardships that Jonas and his family had to face. I thought that this was a very powerful and well-written book. In the beginning, the story moved a little slow but once everything got going I couldn’t put the book down. It always kept me reading because I never knew what was going to happen next. I couldn’t imagine living in a world that braking rules were punishable by death. Reading this book, I have realized that there is no such thing as a perfect world. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful book that keeps you at the edge of your seat. Posted by Staci C

MR. Popper’s Penguin’s by Richard and Florence Atwater

Who doesn’t like penguins? If you’re someone who likes fiction and penguin books this is a perfect book for you. It is about a family named MR. Popper and MRS. Popper and 2 children. MR. Popper won a penguin from the South Pole answer game and he won so he won a penguin. The penguin’s name is captain cook. So MR. Popper gets a big freezer so captain cook can make his bed. Then all of a sudden another penguin pooped his head out from the freezer. After like a week or so there were 12 penguins, MR. Popper had to buy a bigger freezer so instead he just flooded the basement. Than cause there were so many penguins that MR. Popper and MRS. Popper trained them to fight and do tricks. When MR. Popper found out there was a famous actress down town he brought all of his penguins to perform for him. This is one of my favorite books and hopefully it’s going to be yours.

A Summer to Die By Lois Lowry Molly isn’t going to come home again, Molly’s going to die.” Meg isn’t just dreaming, she’s living it. Meg’s sister, Molly, gets a deadly disease, which makes her develop red, puffy, swollen spots on her legs, that almost look like mosquito bites.

Imagine being Meg, living with a sister in the hospital who was always getting tests done because she gets horrible nosebleeds. Then her sister comes home but isn’t the same. Instead of liking cheerleading like she used to, she likes flowers and reading. And she hates Meg on days that Meg doesn’t do what she wants. Until one day everything changes. It was almost noon and the two girls were sitting on their beds when Meg noticed red, swollen, puffy spots on Molly’s legs. Meg ran downstairs and told their parents about Molly’s legs. The next thing they knew Molly was in the hospital with a tube stuck in her throat to help her breathe. From then on the only things that made Meg feel happy were her three neighbors, Will, Ben, Maria, and her camera.

The ending of A Summer to Die is sad and when you finish the book you feel like you lost the friend that helped you travel through the whole adventure. A Summer to Die is one of Lois Lowry’s first books. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a book about love/hate relationship. Posted by Meredyth P.

The Messenger By Lois LowryWhat would you do if you lived with a blind man and had a special “gift”? Well, a 13-year old boy named Matty does. Matty has a gift and can heal just about every living thing. You can live Matty’s life in an outstanding, award- winning book By Lois Lowry. The Messenger delivers a suspenseful chapter after chapter book.

After Matty finds out he has this special gift when he finds a frog awaiting its death on a trail with one leg. Matty tries to fix him when his hands start to vibrate and a glow comes out of his palms. Next thing he knows the frog is leaping away happily. Matty gets very afraid and tells nobody. Village, Matty’s home place, is building a wall so new ones can’t start new lives here, and the blind mans daughter doesn’t know.

This fictional book is a part of an award-winning series. I personally had a hard time reading some of the sad parts. I recommend this book from ages ten to the teens. Lowry, as always, makes every book descriptive and has excellent word choice. Like every Lowry book, there’s a kid, and a problem with the community. Posted by Jacob A

The Lost Years of Merlin by T.A.Barron Can you imagine having powers? Great and wonderful powers? Powers that allow you to control nature and time? How would it be? “Awful!” Says Emrys. “Just plain scary.” “I am scared of these powers because I killed a kid with them.

In the book The Lost Years of Merlin, there is a boy named Emrys who has a clouded mind. He knows nothing of were he was born of has came from and is dying to find out. All he remembers is getting thrown onto an empty beach and getting knocked out. Now he is a young man and has a life-threatening mission to accomplish. The forest of Fincayra is being slowly destroyed and dying. His friend that he meets along the way is a girl named Rhia. Rhia is a girl that loves the outsides and loves the woods as well. She even lives in a tree! She calls the woods, the Druma. Rhia has a dream one day that changes Emrys life forever. The dream is that a hero will come to the Druma and save it from dying. The problem is there is a castle in Fincayra called the shrouded castle. It is making darkness go over the land, which is killing the Druma. So Emrys has to go stop it from killing the Druma. Of corse he says “No way”. All because he wants to find out more about his past. Though then he relizes that the Druma is where he was born and must save it. Throughout this book Emrys encounters a lot of hard challenges and people. He experiences many feelings for people he has grown attatched to and deos not want to let them go.I think the lesson in this story is be strong and have faith in yourself. Because if you don’t then you will fail in life.

When I read this book I was stunned. T.A.Barron is a fascinating author. He uses very good choices of words. He can describe a character with no problems at all. When he describes something he makes the thing come to life and can paint a beautiful picture of it.

I think this book is meant for anyone. If you have read books like The lion the witch and the wardrobe or any other fantasy books then you will like this book. I would recommend it to anyone as well, its that good. If you’re looking for a book with your special something than this book is meant for you. Posted by James B.

Becoming Naomi Leon by Pam Munoz Ryan. What would you do if one night your long lost mother came bursting threw the door and demanded you come to LA to live with her and her boyfriend that’s a tattoo artist and your brother and great grandma you’ve know all your life, are not allowed to come? Would you hop in your RV and try to find your dad that you had not seen since you were little? That’s what Naomi her great grandma and her brother Owen are try to do in the wonderful award winning book, Becoming Naomi Leon. Naomi, who is the main character, thinks her life is going fairly well, besides the fact she lives in a trailer park with her great grandma and brother Owen in their trailer named Baby Beluga, but when Naomi’s life gets turned inside out will she able to fix things. Pam Munoz Ryan creates wonderful and believable characters and adds great detail and description so that by the end of the book I felt like I was Naomi. Pam Munoz Ryan really gives the characters feeling as well and adds enough description so by the end of the book you can already see every detail and emotion on the characters face. I recommend this book to other young adults. This book was so good I plan on reading more books by the same author.Posted by Amanda H.

The Secret of Platform 13by Eva Ibbotson Have you ever felt like you know someone, but you’ve never met them in your life? That’s how an 8-year-old hag named Odge feels about her secret island’s prince (she lives on an uncharted island that planes and boats don’t see). Except he was kidnapped when he was 4 months old in the human’s world, about a year before she was born. There is a gump that leads to the human’s world, but it only opens every 9 years for 9 days. It’s about to open, and Odge wants to be picked as a rescuer by the King and Queen to go. But would you pick an 8-year-old to rescue your son you haven’t seen in 9 years? Didn’t think so. Odge was not picked, but she begs and eventually they allow her to go. When Odge finally sees Raymond the prince she is filled with hat for he acts like a brat. The rescuers must bring him back, and it’s when they bring him back that they find out Raymond is not the real prince. But Odge goes back into the human’s world and finds the real prince. There is no mistake why this book is an award winner. It’s descriptive, has twists and turns, has a good mystery to follow along and solve. You go through a few different feelings throughout the book. You go through angry, frustration, happy, and a lot of times you’re talking to yourself about stuff in the book like why did they do that? I loved the characters. It was hard for me to put this book down. The author set a very good pace, was very descriptive, and created characters that were likable. The author also had a different look on trolls and harpies magical creatures in general. Trolls and are not bad, and harpies aren’t what you normally think of them. I recommend this book to anyone who likes the Harry Potter series, or anyone who likes a good mystery. Posted by Veronica G.

Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo Do you like dogs? Because this story is about a dog named Winn Dixie. Opal loved Winn Dixie she found him in store and took him home to take care of him. Opal’s experience was taking care of a dog and I think it is her best experience. There are many problems along the way like she has to less money to buy collar for Winn Dixie. I am not a dog lover but I like dogs. I have seen the movie Shiloh and it is also a book and it is like Winn Dixie. I didn’t really like this story because all the characters are basic. For example Winn Dixie is a plan old dog but hay you might like him. A good recommendation to this is if you love dogs. This story is by Kate DiCamillo. Posted by Chris N

Linda Sue Park has the best ideas and uses lots of description in her writing. I recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense and action. Also if you like books that don’t have a happy ending this is for you. Posted by Ryan K

Hatchet by Gary Paulsen This book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen is kind of slow. I would recommend it to anybody who likes survival stories.

The story is about a boy named Brian Robinson who is going to see his dad up north. When he aborts the plain every thing seems to fine but when they are in the air the pilot has a mysterious heart attack and dies. The plain ends up crashing. Brian thankfully lands safly but there is no way to call for help all he has is a hatchet.

The message in the stories is to keep open mined. Also to think that tomorrow is going to be a better day.

The experience with the book was that I thought the book was boring in some parts, but some parts were exciting.

There are also sequels to this book Brian’ s Return, Brian’s, Brian’s winter, and The Stories Behind Brian. So you don’t have to worry if you love this book and you want more. I hope you give this book a chance. By SarahM

The Winter Room by Gary Paulson Where the winters freezing and the summers are hot, where the fall is cold and the spring is hot and sticky lived a boy named Elden. Elden lived on a farm with his brother Wayne, his dad, his Uncle David, and Nell. Everyday of every season there’s some type of work to do but Elden doesn’t really mind how much work he does.

Sometimes they have to kill some of the animals and use every part of it you can and cook and eat it. When Elden’s mother cooked some of the food Elden wouldn’t eat it because he thought it was disgusting.

There’s a room called the living room but Elden calls it the winter room because they only use it in the winter. The winter room has a table and an oven in it. They use it a lot during the winter and a lot of things happen in that room.

As the seasons go by and all the work you think is done theres just more to come. It is now winter and they start to use the winter room. Every night they would sit at the table in the winter room and Uncle David would tell stories about himself. Everyone knew they weren’t true but they would never say anything about it not being true. One day Uncle David told a story about himself about tacking two axes and cutting a tree with the axes end up in the center of the tree after it is cut down the axes touch right in the middle. Later Wayne started crying when only the mother and Elden were in the room. “He’s a liar he’s lying,” whimpered Wayne. Uncle David walked by and heard Wayne. They didn’t tell any stories they just talked the next night and the next night after that.

When Elden and Wayne were at the hayloft Elden was really mad at Wayne for what he did so Elden started beating him up. Since Wayne was bigger and stronger Wayne was on top of Elden very quickly and gave him a hard punch that gave him a bloody nose. When they were done fighting they saw Uncle David. Wayne grabbed two axes and ran them over to Uncle David. He did exactly what he told in the story and every night he told a story and everybody listened and didn’t say a word.

I really enjoyed this book because it was exciting and mysterious. I was so amazed when reading this book. I didn’t want to stop reading I could hardly put the book down. When Wayne and Elden were fighting I thought something bad was going to happen to one of them. This was an amazing experience it is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I recommend this book to any type of reader because it is an easy book to read and enjoy. This amazing book was by Gary Paulson. Posted by Brooke K

Number the Stars By Lois Lowery. Why do people get in fights with other countries? Than there is a big war and people start dieing. My characters name is Ellen. She is 10 years old and she was born Jewish. Ellen has brown hair. Ellen lives with her best friend Annemarie because she needs to be safe or else she will be killed. The Jewish people are in a war against the Germans. So the German solders are killing all the Jewish people that live by them. Annemarie is not Jewish so she will not die. Do you think Ellen will die? Read the Book Number the Stars to find out.

I think that Number the Stars is an award-winning book because the book was so good. I was really into the book Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. I couldn€™t put the book down. Through the whole book the middle was the best. I was very excited in the middle. I really wanted to see what would happen. Finally when I finished the book I was so happy because I could get some sleep. That was how much I read.

I would recommend the book to anyone who has read Hannah Suitcase, or anyone who is into mischief books. Number the Stars was a mischief book because they had to hide pore little Ellen so she wouldn€™t die. I would be scared. So read the book Number the Stars to find out what happens to Ellen. The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau

“Do you think they lived in a dieing city to?” that’s what Lina thought in the book The city of Ember. This book is about a ding city and their story of 2 friends tiring to escape.

The main characters Doon and Lina are tiring to find a way to keep the generator working when they discover a box with instructions for an exit out of the city. But Lina’s baby sister, Poppie ate the. Can the piece together the instructions before the generator goes out forever leaving the in total darkness (the sky is black so their is no sun, or moon the only light comes from huge floodlights on the buildings)?

This book was a real page-turner. You felt as if you were right next to the characters and you hope they will save Ember. This book is the first in the series and the sequel is The Prophet of Yonwood. Posted by Adam P.

Everything on a Waffle by Polly Horvath How would you feel if your parents were lost at sea, and you were the only person in the world who believes that they were alive? This is a story about a strong girl who faces many hardships throughout one year.

Primrose Squarp is an eleven -year -old girl who is the absolute only person who believes that her parents are truly alive at sea. Whether they are floating in the water or waiting on an island, she would never admit that they were dead no matter how much she was made fun of. Even by adults.

Before she loses her parents at sea, they lived a happy life, and Primrose had no problems. Since Primrose’s parents were away, she switches from house to house because of custody arrangement. Primrose has mixed emotions about the settlements. Most of Everything on a Waffle, Primroses lives with her Uncle jack, and they build a strong relationship. Primrose didn’t even know she had an uncle, or for that matter any other family besides her parents. Ms. Honeycut, Primrose’s guidance counselor has a big crush on Uncle Jack, which means she will do anything so that Primrose gets sent away. The lesson is that Primrose doesn’t care what anyone else thinks about her, but not to the point where she is careless about others. Will Primrose’s parents come back? Read the book to find out.

The author, Polly Horvath does a great job using descriptive language such as similes and metaphors that paint a great picture in the reader’s head. It made me feel like I was really there with Primrose in Coal Harbor and the other supporting characters.

I recommend this book to kids about nine and up because it was kind of switching subjects through the chapters. I also think this book is great for boys and girls because Primrose isn’t really a girly girl so, it wouldn’t be boring for boys. I would also recommend this book to readers who like realistic fiction. Everything on a Waffle was a great book to read, and I couldn’t wait to see what happened at the end. Double Fudge by Judy Blume Fudges life is psychotic; his brother nearly wrecked the whole mall. Then they decided to take a vacation to Canada. Then at the airport some random people came up to them and started saying they were their cousins, and that they were their favorite cousins? And Fudge and his family didn’t even know them. The cousins were from Hawaii and they go to Fudge’s house all the time. So, his father said they could stay at their house for a little bit and they did, but soon Fudge and his family start to wonder if they really are their cousins.

My favorite part was in the middle of the book when Fudge was in the subway and he lost his brand new show. It was hilarious, it felt like I was in the book. I would recommend this book if you like hilarious books that make you feel like you’re in them.

I think you should read this book because there are many events that happened in this book. I liked this book because it had humor. Number The Stars By Lois Lowery “We are very small with very large enemies.” That quote was quote taken from Anne Marrie’s grandfather. I am Anne Marrie my family and me are living in Germany during the Holocaust. This phrase is proven several times thought the book.

Anne Marie is a young Jewish girl who is a loving and sweet kid who is growing up in a small village in Germany with her and caring family.

The plot of the book is that there is nothing as two small or not brave enough.

The book left me hanging and left me wonting more at the same time I could imagine being there because of all of the beautiful visuals and descriptions. The book was great and I wonder if there is a sequel. I would recommend this book to any teen reader. Posted Tommy Q.

Every page that you turn there are at least 20 really crisp details; you don’t even have to look that hard. This book is for both boys and girls. I LOVED this book and I would read it over and over again until I was going to explode with all this creative writing. My Brother Sam Is Dead, changed how I looked a war books. My Brother Sam Is Dead by James Lincoln Collier & Christopher Collier. I heard myself scream, “Don’t’ shoot him, don’t shoot him!

Tim has a normal family, a mom, a dad and a brother named Sam. One day as Tim and his dad were delivering food; Tim looses his dad and he’s never seen again. Tim’s mother is now trying to protect the rest of her family, but it is kind of hard to when she has a son (Sam) that is in war. One day Sam comes home to visit. That night he tries to stop a cattle thief, but the real cattle thief capture Sam and turn him in as a cattle thief so they wont get caught. After a trial to figure out what they are going to do with Sam (because no one believes him that he isn’t really a cattle thief) Sam gets sent to execution. Will Tim be able to save his brother Sam? To find out read My Brother Sam Is Dead.

I thought that My Brother Sam Is Dead by James Lincoln Collier & Christopher Collier was probably one of the best books I’ve ever read, if not the best book. It is a suspenseful story, with a lot of twists and turns. Unfortunately, although as good as this book is, it is also one of the saddest books I’ve read and probably will read. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Posted by Jacqueline M.

Everything on a Waffle, by Polly Horvath “And that was the last I saw of my mother,” was Primrose’s exact words when her mom ran out to the little raft to rescue Primrose’s dad in the ocean. That was where the story began!

The amazing description in Everything on a Waffle tells you how the parents of Primrose, an eleven-year-old girl, get lost at sea. Primrose is now alone. What does she do now? She has no one. She was very close to her parents, so her loss wasn’t easy for her. She always believes her parents will come back one day, but no one else believes her. This story tells you about a few confusing years of Primrose’s life. If you like realistic fiction with a good conflict, in about modern time, this is a book for you. Also, it doesn’t really matter if you’re a boy or a girl, even though the main character is a girl the conflict isn’t girly, at all!

It was very difficult to stop flipping the pages of this book. If I weren’t pacing myself with how much I read a night, I would have finished this book in 2 days!

Polly Horvath created realistic, but humorous characters that I was amused by. She gave me a clear visual for every character, scene, and situation. Also, I always felt like I was with Primrose in Coal Harbor.

Everything on a Waffle has a powerful lesson on how not to take things for granted. (Especially your parents!) I always felt joy picking up the book and opening it. If you like a humorous book with a nice lesson, this is a book for you! Posted by Delaney Z.

The Ghost of Fossil Glen by Cynthia Defelice Have you ever felt like someone was out to get you? This is Allie Nichols feels like. This stared after she went to Fossil Glen. The only reason why she was there she was getting a new fossil for her collection. When she came home the was freezing. After that happened I didn’t want to stop reading. Then the phone rang she jumped it was her best friend to ask if she got her journal. But she didn’t so she was looking on the counter and she found this package with her name on it. When she opened it there was a journal. The journal was all ready written in when she read it was from a girl that was murdered. No one knows she was murdered and no knows the murder. Oh did I mention that there is a ghost that might be good or not.

If you enjoy any Mystery you will enjoy this. It is creepy and somewhat scary. The reason why it is creepy and scary is. That after the day she was at Fossil Glen there were adult man footprints right where she was standing. That night she sees a man outside on the sidewalk out side her window. So she makes sure every thing is locked up so no one can get. So if you like mysteries check out this book at any library. Posted by Emily M.

The Sign Of The Beaver By Elizabeth George Speare Matt is lost from home with no one knowing were he is and he doesn’t know were he is. Matt is a nice person, he doesn’t like to pick on other people but is sometimes rude unless he is at a fancy resturant then he has some manners. Everybody says Matt is handsome in the book but when he arrives at the forest away from home he becomes muddy and dirty. Matt has his own believes, he believes in a god that he made up and believes in Christianity also Jesus. I think this book should be an award-winning book because of its surprises and adventures Matt has also his encounters with the wild. This book will make all the readers be shocked how Matt survives the wild with ugly animals and deranged wolves also the strong giant animals that are infected with rabies.

Number The Stars by Lois Lowry

Have you ever been on the verge of dieing? Well Ellen has! Ellen is a Jewish girl and is living in the time when the German soldiers are trying to capture all the Jews to kill them. Ellen’s parents move away and Ellen has to stay at her friend Annemarie’s house. Will Ellen survive this torturous time? Read Number the Stars to find out.

There are three main characters in this book there is Ellen, Annemarie, and Kirsti. Annemarie and Kirsti are sisters and Annemarie and Ellen are best friends. Ellen and Annemarie are two 10 year old girls. Ellen has dark brown hair and she is very shy but very kind too. Annemarie has blonde hair and has a lot of guts because she always tries to stand up to the soldiers. Kirsti is 8 years old and is very nice until it comes to the soldiers. These characters totally got me hooked into this book.

Lois Lowry has written an award-winning novel. Number the stars is full of suspense and unbelievable vocabulary. As I read Number the Stars I couldn’t put the book down. I would recommend this book to anyone. This book is a lot like Hannah’s Suitcase in many ways. After reading my review I hope you will read this book and enjoy it as much as I did.
